As of August 8, 2026, Mushroom Rock, Toadstool Shadow's new album, is now out on CD. The album title and art come from the mysterious Mushroom Rock in central Kansas. The album is 15 songs. It's got three dance songs, three potato songs, two faerie songs, a couple kid songs, one instrumental, one love song. It's got a song about old dogs learning new tricks and a song about apples falling far from the tree. It's all acoustic except for two electric songs. Ellie and Margaret sing one song. Ellie sings another. It is all original songs, except for one traditional tune, "Wild Mountain Thyme." The hope is that both kids and adults might like it.
"It's eclectic," says Toadstool Shadow's Chris Till. "It's a fruit salad. Some of the songs could be kid songs or they could be grown-up songs, like the Beatles 'Yellow Submarine.' Our goal was for the songs to be a seamless synthesis of the serious, the silly, and the surreal."
The Ohio Arts Council paid for 90% of the recording costs. As of August 9, 2026, it is only available on CD. It will be on all streaming services soon. There will also be a small batch of vinyl records made. We can ship it anywhere in the USA. Including shipping, for $14, you will get the CD and a Toadstool Shadow sticker.
