TOADSTOOL SHADOW
Both Toadstool Shadow albums are of the early 2020-2021 version of the band that did not yet feature the sunshine sweet vocals of Cousin Ellie and Cousin Margaret.
In September 2021, Toadstool Shadow's debut film Folk Songs of the American Wood Elf premiered in Canton, Ohio. Over the next month, the film screened in four other Ohio towns: Columbus, Chillicothe, Dayton, and Yellow Springs. Folk Songs of the American Wood Elf is part two of Toadstool Shadow's three-part fairy tale opera about the otherworldly adventures of a visionary rabbit. The movie features 12 original songs about faeries, robot elves, leprechauns, mermaids, magic carpets, and an invisible mountain, plus two songs about acid casualties. The soundtrack album can be streamed everywhere (Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, etcetera). Limited edition CDs are available in the Toadstool Shadow store. On the full moon in July 2020, Toadstool Shadow's debut album Rainbow Nights came out. In the following months, the Dayton, Ohio NPR radio station WYSO played five of its songs, particularly "Astral Minutes." To promote Rainbow Nights, Toadstool Shadow buried a treasure chest in Yellow Springs, Ohio. The treasure chest contained antique silver coins, rubies, emeralds, jewelry, a Cadillac hood ornament, and more. Everybody who bought the album got the first of 12 clues to the buried treasure. Months later, a pair of semi-professional treasure hunters from Springfield, Ohio finally located and dug up the treasure chest. In physical form, the Rainbow Nights CD is for sale in the Toadstool Shadow store. The CD comes with a four-page foldout lyric sheet that includes the Rainbow Nights story. Rainbow Nights can also be streamed and downloaded at Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, Bandcamp, and all music streaming websites. |
